Mysore bondas is one of the famous item from Mysore cuisine. This fried dumplings are made with flour, yogurt and spices. They are crispy outside and fluffy inside. They make a good tea time snack with this special chutney.This chutney is hot and sweet chutney.
Ingredients for bonda(250 ml cup)
Maida flour - 1 and 1/2 Cups
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Sour Curd - 1 cup
Green chillies - 5
Soda salt - 1 teaspoon
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped ginger- 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - To taste
Oil - For Frying the bondas
Ingredients for chutney:
Onion-1 medium size
Red chillies-5
Jaggery- small piece
Coconut pieces-1/2 cup
Salt- to taste
Method of making bonda:
Mix the flours along with salt, soda salt and curd and leave it for 30 mins.
After half an hour, we should beat the battter well atleast for 5-10 minutes so that the batter is nicely aerated. Add chopped ginger, green chillies, cumin seeds and mix well.
Heat the oil in the pan and test if the oil is ready for frying the bondas. Take small balls of dough and gently drop it in the oil .
Fry the bondas till it becomes crisp in medium flame on both the sides.
Remove the fried bondas and shift it to kitchen towel to drain the excess oil .
Method of making chutney :
Grind everything together with required water.
